Behold，hismajestypreparedhisinfantryandhischariotry，theSherdenofthecaptivityofhismajestyfromthevictoriesofhisword-theygavetheplanofbattle。Hismajestyproceedednorthward，hisinfantryandhischariotrybeingwithhim。Hebeganthegoodlywaytomarch。Year5，thesecondmonthofthethirdseasontenthmonth，ontheninthday，hismajestypassedthefortressofTharu，likeMontuwhenhegoesforth。Everycountrytrembledbeforehim，fearwasintheirhearts；alltherebelscamebowingdownforfearofthefameofhismajesty，whenhisarmycameuponthenarrowroad，beinglikeonewhoisuponthehighway。

Now，aftermanydaysafterthis，behold，hismajestywasinUsermare-Meriamon，thecityofcedar。Hismajestyproceedednorthward，andhethenarrivedatthehighlandofKadesh。Thenhismajestymarchedbefore，likehisfather，MontulordofThebes，andcrossedoverthechanneloftheOrontes，therebeingwithhimthefirstdivisionofAmonnamed："Victory-of-King-Usermare-Setepnere。"

Whenhismajestyreachedthecity，behold，thewretched，vanquishedchiefofKhetahadcome，havinggatheredtogetherallcountriesfromtheendsoftheseatothelandofKheta，whichcameentire：theNaharinlikewise，andArvad，Mesa，Keshkesh，Kelekesh，Luka，Kezweden，Carchemish，Ekereth，Kode，theentirelandofNuges，Mesheneth，andKadesh。Heleftnotacountrywhichwasnotbroughttogetherwiththeirchiefswhowerewithhim，everymanbringinghischariotry，anexceedinggreatmultitude，withoutitslike。Theycoveredthemountainsandthevalleys；theywerelikegrasshopperswiththeirmultitudes。Heleftnotsilvernorgoldinhislandbutheplundereditofallitspossessionsandgavetoeverycountry，inordertobringthemwithhimtobattle。

Behold，thewretched，vanquishedchiefofKheta，togetherwithnumerousalliedcountries，werestationedinbattlearray，concealedonthenorthwestofthecityofKadesh，whilehismajestywasalonebyhimself，withhisbodyguard，andthedivisionofAmonwasmarchingbehindhim。ThedivisionofRecrossedovertheriver-bedonthesouthsideofthetownofShabtuna，atthedistanceofaniterfromthedivisionofAmon；thedivisionofPtahwasonthesouthofthecityofAranami；andthedivisionofSutekhwasmarchingupontheroad。Hismajestyhadformedthefirstrankofalltheleadersofhisarmy，whiletheywereontheshoreinthelandoftheAmor。Behold，thewretchedvanquishedchiefofKhetawasstationedinthemidstoftheinfantrywhichwaswithhim，andhecamenotouttofight，forfearofhismajesty。Thenhemadetogothepeopleofthechariotry，anexceedinglynumerousmultitudelikethesand，beingthreepeopletoeachspan。Now，theyhadmadetheircombinationsthus：amongeverythreeyouthswasonemanofthevanquishedofKheta，equippedwithalltheweaponsofbattle。Lo，theyhadstationedtheminbattlearray，concealednorthwestofthecityofKadesh。

TheycameforthfromthesouthernsideofKadesh，andtheycutthroughthedivisionofReinitsmiddle，whiletheyweremarchingwithoutknowingandwithoutbeingdrawnupforbattle。Theinfantryandchariotryofhismajestyretreatedbeforethem。Now，hismajestyhadhaltedonthenorthofthecityofKadesh，onthewesternsideoftheOrontes。Thencameonetotellittohismajesty。

HismajestyshonelikehisfatherMontu，whenhetooktheadornmentsofwar；asheseizedhiscoatofmail，hewaslikeBaalinhishour。Thegreatspanwhichborehismajestycalled："Victory-in-Tebes，"fromthegreatstablesofRamsesII，wasinthemidstoftheleaders。Hismajestyhaltedintherout；thenhechargedintothefoe，thevanquishedofKheta，beingalonebyhimselfandnoneotherwithhim。Whenhismajestywenttolookbehindhim，hefound2，500chariotrysurroundinghim，inhiswayout，beingalltheyouthofthewretchedKheta，togetherwithitsnumerousalliedcountries：fromArvad，fromMesa，fromPedes，fromKeshkesh，fromErwenet，fromKezweden，fromAleppo，Eketeri，Kadesh，andLuka，beingthreementoaspan，actinginunison。

Year5，thirdmonthofthethirdseason，day9；underthemajestyofHorus：MightyBull,BelovedofTruth；KingofUpperandLowerEgypt：Usermare-Setepnere；SonofRe；Ramses-Meriamon,givenlifeforever。

Lo,hismajestywasinZahionhissecondvictoriouscampaign。Thegoodlywatchinlife,prosperityandhealth,inthetentofhismajesty,wasonthehighlandsouthofKadesh。

WhenhismajestyappearedliketherisingofRe,heassumedtheadornmentsofhisfather,Montu。Whenthekingproceedednorthward,andhismajestyhadarrivedatthelocalitysouthofthetownofShabtuna,therecametwoShasu,tospeaktohismajestyasfollows："Ourbrethren,whobelongtothegreatestofthefamilieswiththevanquishedchiefofKheta,havemadeuscometohismajesty,tosay：'WewillbesubjectsofPharaohandwewillfleefromthevanquishedchiefofKheta；forthevanquishedchiefofKhetasitsinthelandofAleppo,onthenorthofTunip。HefearsbecauseofPharaohtocomesouthward。'"Now,theseShasuspakethesewords,whichtheyspaketohismajesty,falsely,forthevanquishedchiefofKhetamadethemcometospywherehismajestywas,inordertocausethearmyofhismajestynottodrawupforfightinghim,tobattlewiththevanquishedchiefofKheta。

Lo,thevanquishedchiefofKhetacamewitheverychiefofeverycountry,theirinfantryandtheirchariotry,whichhehadbroughtwithhimbyforce,andstood,equipped,drawnupinlineofbattlebehindKadeshtheDeceitful,whilehismajestyknewitnot。ThenhismajestyproceedednorthwardandarrivedonthenorthwestofKadesh；andthearmyofhismajestymadecampthere。

Then,ashismajestysatuponathroneofgold,therearrivedascoutwhowasinthefollowingofhismajesty,andhebroughttwoscoutsofthevanquishedchiefofKheta。Theywereconductedintothepresence,andhismajestysaidtothem："Whatareye？"Theysaid："Asforus,thevanquishedchiefoftheKhetahascausedthatweshouldcometospyoutwherehismajestyis。"

Saidhismajestytothem："He！Whereishe,thevanquishedchiefofKheta？Behold,Ihaveheard,saying：'HeisinthelandofAleppo,'"Saidthey："See,thevanquishedchiefofKhetaisstationed,togetherwithmanycountries,whichhehasbroughtwithhimbyforce,beingeverycountrywhichisinthedistrictsofthelandofKheta,thelandofNaharin,andallKode。Theyareequippedwithinfantryandchariotry,bearingtheirweapons；morenumerousaretheythanthesandoftheshore。See,theyarestanding,drawnupforbattle,behindKadeshtheDeceitful。"

Thenhismajestyhadtheprincescalledintothepresence,andhadthemheareverywordwhichthetwoscoutsofthevanquishedchiefofKheta,whowereinthepresence,hadspoken。Saidhismajestytothem："SeeyethemannerwherewiththechiefsofthepeasantryandtheofficialsunderwhomisthelandofPharaohhavestood,daily,sayingtothePharaoh：'ThevanquishedchiefofKhetaisinthelandofAleppo；hehasfledbeforehismajesty,sincehearingthat,behold,hecame。'Sospaketheytohismajestydaily。Butsee,Ihaveheldahearinginthisveryhour,withthetwoscoutsofthevanquishedchiefofKheta,totheeffectthatthevanquishedchiefofKhetaiscoming,togetherwiththenumerouscountriesthatarewithhim,beingpeopleandhorses,likethemultitudesofthesand。TheyarestationedbehindKadeshtheDeceitful。ButthegovernorsofthecountriesandtheofficialsunderwhoseauthorityisthelandofPharaohwerenotabletotellittous。"

Saidtheprinceswhowereinthepresenceofhismajesty："Itisagreatfault,whichthegovernorsofthecountriesandtheofficialsofPharaohhavecommittedinnotinformingthatthevanquishedchiefofKhetawasneartheking；andinthattheytoldhisreporttohismajestydaily。"

Thenthevizierwasorderedtohastenthearmyofhismajesty,whiletheyweremarchingonthesouthofShabtuna,inordertobringthemtotheplacewherehismajestywas。

Lo,whilehismajestysattalkingwiththeprinces,thevanquishedchiefofKhetacame,andthenumerouscountries,whichwerewithhim。TheycrossedoverthechannelonthesouthofKadesh,andchargedintothearmyofhismajestywhiletheyweremarching,andnotexpectingit。Thentheinfantryandchariotryofhismajestyretreatedbeforethem,northwardtotheplacewherehismajestywas。Lo,thefoesofthevanquishedchiefofKhetasurroundedthebodyguardofhismajesty,whowerebyhisside。

Whenhismajestysawthem,hewasenragedagainstthem,likehisfather,Montu,lordofThebes。Heseizedtheadornmentsofbattle,andarrayedhimselfinhiscoatofmail。HewaslikeBaalinhishour。Thenhebetookhimselftohishorses,andledquicklyon,beingalonebyhimself。HechargedintothefoesofthevanquishedchiefofKheta,andthenumerouscountrieswhichwerewithhim。HismajestywaslikeSutekh,thegreatinstrength,smitingandslayingamongthem；hismajestyhurledthemheadlong,oneuponanotherintothewateroftheOrontes。
